Hundreds of them, moving together — one direction, one current, one mind. And then a few, breaking away toward the surface. Escaping, it seemed. Choosing something different.
Look closer. They're all moving in a circle. What looks like freedom is just another turn of the same tide.
I stood there longer than I should have, thinking about that. How many of our own circles do we swim without ever seeing them? How often do we mistake movement for change?
I came home and drew this.
Current is for anyone who has ever stood at the edge of a decision, or in the middle of a life, and wondered whether they were breaking free or simply completing another loop. It doesn't answer the question. It just holds it — in blue and black and the cold, honest light of deep water.
